For buildings with automatic sprinkler system, the Building Code requires that diesel generator room, boiler room and other rooms should also be equipped with automatic sprinkler system. In practical application, it should be treated according to different situations. When setting up automatic sprinkler system, the adverse effects on the equipment must be fully considered and preventive measures must be taken.

For diesel generator room and boiler room set in the building, automatic fire extinguishing system can be selected according to the following principles:

1、 For buildings with automatic sprinkler system, diesel generator room, oil and gas boiler room and other rooms shall also be equipped with automatic sprinkler system, but the following factors must be considered:

1. The installation of automatic sprinkler system must consider the impact on the equipment. The normal operation of diesel generator set and other equipment shall not be affected during the discharge, and the leakage and other safety accidents shall not be caused.

The protection grade of the equipment shell should be improved and the electrical circuit should be protected. The protection grade of the electrical equipment shell can refer to the requirements of the Technical Code for Fire Water Supply and Hydrant System (GB50974), and adopt IP55 protection grade. 2. It is necessary to consider the requirements of sprinkler operating temperature. Combined with the ambient temperature during normal operation of the equipment, the sprinkler with a normal nominal operating temperature of 68 ℃ may not meet the requirements.

3. If the above requirements are not met or it is difficult to confirm the application conditions, water mist or gas fire extinguishing system can be set, and water spray system can also be considered (the impact of water spray system on electrical equipment should also be considered).

2、 For buildings not equipped with automatic sprinkler system, wheeled ABC dry powder fire extinguishers or gas fire extinguishers can be set. For large scale or important equipment, water spray, water mist or gas fire extinguishing systems can be set.

3、 In case of "special important equipment room", gas fire extinguishing system shall be set.

In 8.3.9 of the Building Code, gas fire extinguishing system is required for special important equipment rooms. According to the interpretation requirements of the article, special important equipment mainly refers to the key equipment installed in important parts and places that will seriously affect production and life after a fire. Such as the central control room in the chemical plant and the electronic equipment room, control room, computer room and relay room in the power plant with a single capacity of 300 MW units and above. The distribution room in high-rise civil buildings with high fire risk and serious impact on production and life after the fire also belongs to special important equipment room.

In fact, the special important equipment room is a relative concept, which needs to be determined according to the actual use function and the requirements of the owner and the operator. For example, the power distribution room of a multi-storey building or residential building, although it does not belong to the special important equipment room according to the specifications, may actually belong to the special important equipment room if it bears the power supply of the important equipment; There are also weak current machine rooms and equipment rooms (power distribution rooms, air conditioning machine rooms, etc.) in some industrial buildings, which are also in this category and need to be determined through communication with the owner and operator.
